Cannes 2018: Mallika Sherawat impresses in a lilac gown with bold embellishment – view pics

We are not done with gushing about Bollywood divas at Cannes Film Festival tonight. Next one to represent India at the French Riviera is Cannes regular, Mallika Sherawat. She stepped on the red carpet wearing a beautiful lilac gown that, to me, looks inspired by the Swan Lake. Though this one leaves no room for Mallika to dance around like a swan. With a bold pattern and a unique lavender colour, the gown is bound to stand out. But criticising where it’s due, we are not very happy with the neck collar that this outfit boasts of. A better neckline would have given Mallika a sexier outing for today.

Moving on to the more important discussion here. Mallika won’t be just a diva in a dress at Cannes, but she is representing an NGO with a noble cause. She is working for Free-A-Girl NGO that works on eliminating child prostitution and trafficking from the world.

Mallika has said in a statement, “This is my 9th year at Cannes. It is so important in today’s world to raise awareness about this issue. It is 2018 and we are still grappling with child prostitution all around the world. There are so many children trapped in this racket. It is necessary to create awareness about what is happening with women all over the world. I believe Cannes is a significant platform to raise this issue.”

Apart from Mallika, we have seen three other Bollywood divas at Cannes tonight. We saw Huma Qureshi opt for a dazzling pantsuit at the event. We also saw Kangana Ranaut look sexy AF in sheer Zuhair Murad number. Deepika Padukone looked elegant in sheer dress, which was also designed by Zuhair. Jim Sarbh also walked the red carpet tonight.

In the coming days, we will have Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor gracing the red carpet. Who knows we will have surprise visitors like Tiger Shroff (at Cannes 2017), this year as well.
