Both Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurrana have recently had a release with successful, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha and much loved Bareilly Ki Barfi. In fact both their films are running in theatre right now and are expected to run even around the release of their next, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. The Anand L Rai produced, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is a tale of Mudit who suffers erectile dysfunction and that creates a problem in his soon to be married life. The makers recently released a song, interestingly titled, Laddoo. The song caught me by surprise mainly because of the choice of singer in Mika Singh. Usually known for singing chartbuster tracks, it is Mika’s voice and rendition that makes this song a ‘fun’tastic one.
The song is composed by Tanishk – Vayu, and again it’s a welcome change for Tanishk Bagchi, as he was getting typecast doing just remakes of old classics of 70s, 80 and 90s. They even double-up as lyricist and their lyrics fit perfectly well with the narrative of the film.
The song might not become the chartbuster as it’s a situational song and it also not a typical romantic song like Kanha, the other song from the film. But it is something that will stay with you. As mentioned above, slated to release on September 1, the film talks about an issue many have preconceived notions of but haven’t completely understood. It’s about erectile dysfunction that Ayushmann suffers in the movie.
